For workaholics, like me, taking a day off seems to be more of a hassle than it’s worth. In my head, taking a break away from work makes me feel like my business will be unable to function without me present. Now that I think about it, it seems pretty insane that I spent years growing my business and working hard so that it can run smoothly on it’s own just to turn around and treat it like a feeble child.
This week was my birthday week and I downright refused to spend this special occasion at the office. So, I decided to have the time of my life. Usually a day off for me is spent stressing over the fact that I have nothing to do. Like, what ARE you SUPPOSED to do on a day off?
For starters, you’re not technically supposed to be stressing on a day where you're suppose to be relaxing. But I’m sure we all do it. That should end today!
Here’s a few things that you can do to have an eventful and more enjoyable day off.
Get Out Of The House
Binge watching the Handmaid’s Tale seems like a great idea until you’ve spent your entire day off in the bed. Now you only have time to sleep and get back to work in the morning. Try to plan to engage in activities that require you to leave the comfort of your home. You'll enjoy your day a lot more.
Put Away The Work
Don’t touch the computer. Don’t touch the phone. Don’t even drive in the same direction as your office. Put work, and the thought of work, completely out of your reach. Working on your day off kinda defeats the purpose of taking a day off. If you ignored the first piece of advice by staying in the house at least make it worth it vowing to put work off until the next day.
If You Must Stay Home, Get Some Rest
I can see you nodding off as you read this. If you absolutely cannot find anything to do at ALL, at least get some much needed rest. Rest will rejuvenate you and give your mind a break. After all, you'll need your strength for when you get back to the long hours of work.
